From The Chef
Greetings ~
I’m starting this blog because so many people—both customers and those who might become customers—have expressed interest and asked questions about Home Cuisine, its mission, what it can do for them, and the overall issue of food in our lives today. I don’t consider myself a writer, but the internet makes communication so easy that I have decided to give it a try, and I welcome comments and feedback.
Home Cuisine was founded to fill a need. I watch my weight, as does nearly everyone I know. As a resident of Louisville, Kentucky, I am also aware of the high incidence of diabetes here, and as a baby-boomer, I’m well-acquainted with the long list of health problems just waiting to pounce on everyone as they get older. So there are a lot of reasons for us all to take care of ourselves.
Research tells us, and just about anyone can see, that the healthiest people are those who eat moderately and get their exercise. They look the best, and over the years age the best. Exercise is up to the individual, but I see my mission as making it easier for everyone to enjoy a balanced diet, in moderate proportions and so satisfying that one doesn’t finish a meal feeling deprived and searching the refrigerator for a gooey dessert. This applies also to people with busy schedules, because who has the time to figure out calories and plan meals that include a variety of the major food groups, then assemble and cook all the food?
Success in pursuing a healthy life style is somewhat dependent on ease, and that’s where I come in. My job is to make it easy to be healthy. I do all the thinking and preparation that is hard to fit in the typical American’s schedule. Every few days, I’m going to share my thoughts here. I hope you come back to read, and let me know your opinions as well.
Sandy
